I hope the solar advocates prove you wrong also. I have an aversion to all the methods used above but like you really see no realistic alternative at this point in time. Damned if you do and damned if you dont.

no doubt clean fuel is the need of the hour but are we scientifically proficient to replace traditional forms of energy generation?????????

While most public discourse is on methods of reduction of domestic energy use, no public discussion is being held on methods of reducing industrial/commercial energy use which accounts for over 70% of energy use.
You've noticed that too, huh? Until businesses are able to look far enough down the road to see that they have a vested interest in changing their ways it just isn't going to happen. Even after they do see it and start figuring out the answers they aren't going to make the changes until they decide it makes financial sense for them to do so. And they certainly aren't going to worry about anyone else. It's all about their own bottom line.

There needs to be some sort of stopgap for the next generation (or two) where we start this shift to alternative means of energy. If that stopgap is nuclear -- then I guess it has to be...
